Bree-YARC

Bree-YARC (Yet Another RetroClone) is a love song to 3rd edition D&D, seen through a lens where BX was used as the chassis for the game, rather than AD&D. This quickstart ruleset includes four human ancestries (cleric, fighter, magic-user, and thief), skills, Knacks, and basic rules.

The emphasis on this system is on exploration and discovery, and not combat; characters are rewarded mechanically for exploring, and downtime activities are incorporated into leveling requirements, slowing down the pace of play and encouraging troupe-style play where each player includes a stable of a main PC and multiple retainers. XP requirements have been flattened out, to allow easy multi-classing.
